Come Join Us

Hi Moms!  Don't forget, our next meeting is this week, Wednesday, September 30.  Due to the start of school, we altered our September schedule to meet on the 3rd and 5th Wednesdays.  This means that we will have meeting this Wednesday, AND next Wednesday.  Aren't you so excited?  I know I am.  I love our time together.

This week's meeting will play a fun ice-breaker, to get to know one another a little better and have some table discussion time, related to our Planet Mommy theme.

On October 7, we will use much of that meeting to prep for our sale on October 10.  We will be distributing your signs and locations of where to place them, discussing sale responsibilities and assembling racks.  We will also have a fun sale-related craft.

Looking forward to seeing you all!  Don't forget, starting with this meeting, our older children (2's and up) will be meeting at Gainesville United Methodist Church on Linton Hall Road, while our younger kiddos (infants and 1's) will be staying with us at Church of the Word.

Wednesday Playgroup

Moms...it's time for our first playgroup of the year.  Let's take advantage of this beautiful fall weather we have been having and get out to enjoy it while we can.

We will meet at James Long Park, in Haymarket (near the Gainesville neighborhood library) on Wednesday, September 23 at 10 am.  Bring your kiddos and some snacks and we'll plan to stay until you wear your kiddos out...or they wear you out.  :)

Hope to see you all Wednesday!

MOPS 2009-2010 Kick-off Meeting

Hi Moms! Guess what -- It's that time of year...MOPS is back! Wednesday, September 15 we will be kicking off our 2009-2010 MOPS year. This year's theme Together on Planet Mom, focuses on the various relationships we take on when becoming a mom. Our lives and relationships change dramatically when we become mothers. It's almost as if we've landed on another planet...Planet Mom. Your relationship with yourself changes the most, you're a Mom now...but even relationships with your husbands, other relatives, friends, community and God are different, too. Most of these changes are for the better, although not always. But, even the positive changes do require adjustments.

This year we will be exploring the changes in relationships, and learning how to thrive within them.

Our first meeting will be filled with a delicious brunch, a fun craft, wonderful fellowship with other mom's and two hours free from the responsibilities of motherhood. What could be missing? Oh yes - YOU!

Please plan to join us from 9:30 - 11:30 on Wednesday, September 15, in the sanctuary of Gainesville Church of the Word. For this meeting only, ALL of our Moppets will be meeting at Church of the Word. Beginning with our September 30th meeting, our younger kiddos will stay at CWG with us, while the older children (2 and up) will be meeting at Gainesville United Methodist Church. The workers are prepared for you to drop your children off at 9:15 am (to give you time to drive to CWG); or at 9:10 am on mornings when your small group is responsible for providing brunch. Steering members may always drop their children off at 9:10 am. See you all soon!

About our Group

Our MOPS group is sponsored and charted by the Gainesville United Methodist Church, in Gainesville, Va. We are located at 13710 Milestone Ct. at the corner of Linton Hall Road and Limestone Drive.  We are the "big white church"!  We meet from 9:30 - 11:30 on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.

At each meeting, a yummy brunch is provided by our one of our small groups, which we enjoy with the fellowship of other mom's. With the little ones enjoying their time at Moppets, you are able to enjoy a meal which you didn't have to cut into small pieces! We will also welcome guest speakers from time to time, do crafts that don't involve giving a bath afterward and having some "Mom-Me" conversations.

While our program is based on Christian principles, you do not have to attend a specific church (or any church at all) to be involved in MOPS. We welcome all mothers of preschoolers, regardless of age, race, or socio-economic background. Being a mom to little ones is our only pre-requisite.

Moppets is the group which our children attend. We have dedicated and caring individuals who serve as our Moppets teachers for this group.

While we do not ever close our registration, we are limited to to the number of little ones we can accommodate. If you’d like to join our group, please contact a steering team member (click the "Steering Team" button on our home page) to learn more about our group and to find out when our next meeting is being held.
